Best place to visit in Dominican Republic for holiday?
Hi
My friend and I are visiting the Dominican Republic in November, we want to like go scuba diving, swim with dolphins, horse ride and we love music and dancing, salsa, Bachata and Merengue. We also love Caribbean music too so would appreciate nightlife that accommodates that also.
Where would be the best place to stay to be near the best nightlife but still get a lot of activities in and be able to see some cultural sites also? We are more interested in seeing the real Dominican republic, than tourist resorts.
We are trying to book the right resort so that we can get the most out of our time so need to decide on the North or South East of the island but are not sure which resorts on which side of the island to focus on. Would appreciate any suggestions and information that might help us decide please.
Thanks in advance

for at Las Terrenas, Samana area the new hot spot on the island great for young people who do not just want to sit on the beach. The Dominican Republic also has white water rafting..
The oldest hotel in Puerto Plata would be your best bet. It is also the home of Sam’s Bar.
Although Puerto Plata is a tourist city with lots of hustlers that would be my recommendation. Go to the park at night.
You may consider NOT staying in the “Real Dominican Republic” if you don’t speak good Spanish, know the culture and differences here. You may not find US quality in non tourist resorts (resorts may not be the right word).
Las Terenas and Samana are quite because they get the most rain on the North Coast. Hotels are empty because they can’t sell them.
Hi,
Well I would like to recommend Puerto Plata, for several reasons
Lot to do and to discover
Ocean World (swim with dolphins,..)
Lot of culture to discover in the town (colonial style)
and so many things to discover like
the starting place of the new world!
A good Bed / Breakfast hotel in central town like the Victoriano Hotel, just ask for the new rooms (they are great!) If you need more info just mail me.
Have a nice time.
I would suggest you check out Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana. The resort offers scuba diving lessons in the pool, dance classes and for a small fee you can go horseback riding. There is also great nightlife located close by.
You can also enjoy a great meal at any of the seven restaurants or enjoy 24-hour room service. I hope you enjoy your vacation!
