Best place to vacation in Mexico?

My wife and I are a late 30′s early 40′s couple. We’d appreciate any advice as to where to vacation in Mexico. Neither of us are in to the bar scene/nightlife type of thing that Cancun offers. We are not shoppers, so we have no interest in being somewhere where there’s lots of shops to browse through. We are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, at an all inclusive resort located along the beach (preferably adults only). We both scuba dive, so we’d like an area that has good waters for diving. If we can find something like that which also has nice scenic areas nearby with tour trips, that would be cool. We are a very relaxed couple, and not in to large crowds and lots of noise. We went to the El Dorado Royale 2 yrs ago, and it was nice, but we’d like somewhere where the water is a little clearer and nicer. We would appreciate some advice from experienced travelers. (WE have also been to Cozumel, and it was nice too, but we are looking for other options for our upcoming vacation).
Also, please let us know what time of the year you think is the best to travel to any destination you suggest. I know that going at the right time of year can make all the difference.

We have heard Puerto Vallarta is nice, any thoughts on that?
A little better explanation would really help……
C’mon folks! Only 2 answers???? Surely someone else has been to Mexico and has some good advice????

Go to Mazatlan! The beaches are beautiful and the city itself is amazing! Go after Christmas but before Spring break and there won’t be as many people. Lots of fantastic restaurants and really great shopping. Stay at the El Cid and you’ll get great all inclusive as well as incredible dinner theater shows!

    Have fun!!

  4. Visit Acapulco. Sunny. A lot of shops. All inclusive hotel, p.e. Ritz Hotel 155 dollar p.p. in two bedrooms. Bedrooms are big with balcony, t.v., money safety. Shopping malls in the neighbor.

We enjoyed our vacation in Acapulco two weeks ago.

For peace and tranquility I would recommend La Paz, Mexico. It really lives up to its name, translated as “The Peace.” It has a beautiful boardwalk (aka Malecon). The locals are very friendly and its beaches are some of the most beautiful in Mexico. Do some research on the best places to scuba dive in mexico and you’ll find out that the sea of cortez is one of the best.

You could stay at http://www.costabajaresort.com and for scuba diving check out http://www.funbaja.com

Last you could navigate this site http://www.vivalapaz.net

If you decide to visit La Paz feel free to ask me any other question that you may have. Buena Suerte!

Oh, I almost forgot the best time to travel is from Feb-Apr.
